Recently I was asked to participate in an art opening at the amazing Masthead Print Studio & Gallery. The show is entitled "A Nation Of Evil Men". Participants were asked to either pick from a list of evil subjects or provide our own, although McCarthy was not on the list- I decided he was the Evil man I would most like to illustrate. I felt that with all of the fear mongering over "Communism" and "Socialism" on Fox News there was an obvious parallel to be drawn (literally!).
This Illustration serves as a visual reminder that the new wave of hate and fear towards Communism, Via-Fox News airwaves, bears a remarkable resemblance to the original red scare headed in part by Sen. Joseph McCarthy (one of the most evil men in US history). In fact- if Joseph McCarthy were alive today I'm sure he would have his own talk show on Fox...
The poster is a two color screen print, transparent red & transparent blue- i used the transparent quality of the ink to layer my illustration creating a dark purple where the two colors overlap. The result is what looks like a third color.
